As someone who is personally effected by Alzheimer’s Disease, I care deeply for the patients and
their loved ones suffering from this disease. It’s amazing to me that in the year 2010, there is
no cure and no hope for those who have Alzheimer’s. Before finding out that my mother had
Alzheimer’s, I thought this disease would merely effect a person’s memory. That, in fact, is not
at all the case. Parts of the brain actually die, the brain decreases in size and is no longer
capable of telling your body’s organs how to properly function and you die. I know firsthand
how terrifying this disease can be for the patient. Knowing your memory will certainly fail
you, your brain will stop working and you will die what may be a painful death. As the daughter
of someone who has this disease, I also know the fear and pain it brings to the loved ones as well.
It’s not a disease I would wish on anyone and that’s why I’ve dedicated my life to help find a cure
and to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s Disease is the 3rd leading cause of death in the world but little awareness has been
brought to this disease. Most believe that Alzheimer’s effects only the eldery, but that’s
simply not true. People have been diagnosed in their 40’s. THEIR 40’S! My own mother
shown symptoms of the disease in her mid-50’s. The scary fact is that this isn’t
an “old person’s” disease. This is a disease that affects my generation’s parents, not just their
grandparents and the possibility that this could effect my own generation is merely 15 or 20
years away. The possibility to find a cure to save my own mother has come and gone. It’s too
late for her and it’s a heartbreaking fact to know that there’s nothing left but to watch her die.
There is a chance to find a cure to help save your mother or father or sister or friend, even you or me.
Saving you the heartbreak and loss is what I’m fighting for and I hope you’ll join me.
Kandice Ledford Photography is a proud supporter of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease
and that support can’t happen without you and your business. Donations will be made, time
will be volunteered and photography services will be given free of charge to families effected
by this disease because of your support in me and Kandice Ledford Photography. I thank
you for your support and appreciate it more than you could know. If you are moved to do more
to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, please ask us what you can do. Local Alzheimer’s chapters
need help everyday as well as donations towards research. Kandice Ledford Photography
participates in the local ‘Memory Walk’ to help raise money, awareness and to support those
effected and suffering from this disease. We welcome any support we can get in our walk.
Memory Walk takes place each September and we would love to see you walking with us!

Again, thank you for supporting Kandice Ledford Photography. When you support us
we pass that support along to this amazing cause and I hope that if one day
you or someone you love is ever diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, that
there will be a cure waiting for you.
